A bridge has collapsed in USA during the peak hour on 1 August 2007,at round 6.30 pm (US time).
It was an unfortunate and tragic incident and based on the collapse mechanism where 2 parts have been sheared off, it is suspected to be a brittle failure arising from fatigue. Steel bridge is prone to corrosion and fatigue that may weaken the structure as it gets older. Periodic inspection in 2005 and 2006 has shown that the bridge is structurally sound but as a Professional Engineer , I strongly believe that some retrofitting and strengthening need to be done based on the old age of the bridge.
Looking from the point of Chinese Metaphysics, it is astonishing to note that the 4 Pillars of that day have 3 DINGS at the Heavenly Stems. As mentioned in my Case Study 3, I am particular of the day with many DINGS.

Based on the 4 Pillars, the 3 DINGs (Fire) can represent the bridge and it is quite weak in foundation as there are Goat (earth) and Pig(water) which weaken the fire . However, the Rooster (wood) is supporting the DING (fire) and make the bridge stable. When 6.30 pm (Rooster hour) comes, the Rooster (Metal) clashes with the Rabbit (Wood) and weaken the wood. Without the support of wood, the fire or bridge above is not stable and therefore collapse at the Rooster hour.
Again, DING can mean train, people, bridge or anything. Thus, it is difficult to predict what will be the event. But, at least , the DINGS have given a warning of some inauspicious events to happen.
Moreover, this set of 4 Pillars are all YIN and it indicates that something negative will happen.
